I’ve seen some other sites with articles like this, listing the stuff they use on a day to day basis. I’m not sure how useful this is for anyone but I wanted to join in on the fun.
(Note: I’ve written the whole post now and it actually was kind of fun!)

Hardware

iPhone 13

It just works. I was an Android user for a long time - every phone had to be rooted and customized exactly to my liking. Now I just want a phone that.. works. I can open it, send my partner a message, take some pictures, and that’s all I need.
Comes with the added bonus of still being able to use my Google One subscription! No need to pay for something like iCloud.
I’ve been meaning to swap over to a self-hosted solution but who has the time?

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

I absolutely love this. I got it in college years ago to take notes easier but now it’s mainly used for emails, I’ve gotten old and boring. Being able to detach the keyboard and use it as a tablet is great for day-to-day browsing though, or for playing Solitaire. Again, old and boring.

Desktop

Ryzen 5 3600, 32gb RAM, and an RTX 3050. I love it, it’s my baby.

Software

Obsidian

My favourite application to ever exist.
I use it every single day for just about everything - it’s how I’m writing this post right now! I use it on my phone too, I’ve got a private Github repo that all my notes and config are backed up to.
I’ve got a few small notes on Obsidian here, detailing my current setup and also some useful links I’ve found while setting everything up the way I like it.

TickTick

I used to keep track of my tasks in Obsidian but I struggled to manage it through my phone, so I moved over to a separate app. TickTick fits my needs really well, and lets me create shared todo lists with my partner we can both work from. It’s free too, and that is my favourite price.

Other Assorted Software

Visual Studio Code - Only started using this lately but enjoying it so far!
Sublime Text - My go-to for a long time.
Thunderbird - I’d love to tell you I’m a leet hacker and I use Mutt, but you really can’t go wrong with Thunderbird. (Or Betterbird!)

Assorted EDC Items

Coin

I literally use this to make all irrelevant decisions - it’s a cool little yes/no coin I got with a family member. Can’t decide whether to buy something? Flip the coin.

Lighter

I’m a smoker, but it’s useful.

Knife

I’m not a murderer, but it’s useful too.
